Kenwood: wake-up calls, 1967.

A couple of snapshots of life at Kenwood, circa 1967. House-guests recall that by the "Summer o' Lovin'™", John and Cynthia were leading largely separate lives. She would take care of Julian, and go out on the town in the company of Terry Doran (and, apparently, her hairdresser, causing those tongues to start a wagging, as tongues are wont to do).
He, when not on Beatle business, would generally turn night into day in the company of Pete Shotton, playing Risk, listening to "discs", huffing gas (or some-such) etc. And so to these; a pair of scribbled requests for a wake-up call, currently on display at the Hard Rock Cafe, and amazing it is too that such ephemera should have survived.
Above, on the rear of an Indica gallery envelope ("Pete" almost certainly refers to the aforementioned Mr Shotton, who had the supermarket on Hayling island to run), and below: Terry = the also aforementioned Mr Doran, Paul = Paul, "Antony" = Les Anthony (or maybe it is Antony)...
However (and leaving macabre coincidence to one side), who was Mr Chapman? The gardener? Possibly.

  1. Because iamaphoney would argue that Paul does not equal Paul. Palpable nonsense, of course, but I like what he did with the shoes.

  2. Who was Cynthia's hairdresser?

  5. I don't get this iamaphoney business! The effort put into it is so big, almost overwhelming. But I really like it. Whoever is behind it cannot possibly have a day job, given the time he/she/they have spent!

  6. Some of the later ones are very well done (and he beats even me for stringing
things out). There's a rumour that it's actually Mr McCartney himself who is behind it. More palpable nonsense...shurely?

Or an obsessive fan with great talent and all the time in the world? There is more to this story than meets the eye.

  8. 199 is as "good" an example as any, for anyone who doesn't know what we are talking about. (It may not load, and even if it does, could well intensely annoy you - be warned.)
The internet is certainly a medium for unprecedented time wasting.

  9. Due to your link I got interested in this iamaphoney business (because the music is so good but the PID/RA vids are just disturbing). So I did some research. What I found was that the music is almost certainly by the Super Furry Animals - a band Paul has worked with. Curiouser and curiouser...

  10. Where do you get the Furries link from? I thought the music was by iamaphoney; so are you saying that iamaphoney is in SFA??

  11. Somebody pointed out the similarity between SFA and IAAP in a YouTube comment so I checked it out (as I'm not overly familiar with SFA). And that convinced me. Compare IAAPs "Peace Of Mind" with for example "Show Your Hand" by SFA (I use Spotify). Same voice. Also the bands style fits hand in glove with the music IAAP produces. And then the link with Paul.

  12. It's a thought, certainly. Try floating it over at the IAAP blog, and see what they say...

I did this but it wasn't published. To be honest, I like the music but I'm not a fan of this whole spiel. It kinda gives me the creeps.

  14. I find it more silly than creepy; still, shoes is a top tune (though also silly).

  15. Yes it is silly, but the whole thing is contradictory. Great inspired music coupled with satanistic ott bs. I'm pretty sure my hunch is correct regarding the Furries but that pretty much means Paul is in on it and I dont get it.
Shoes is a indeed a top tune, I have been playing it constantly the last couple of days!

  16. The chap/chap-ess behind those vids must be tickled pink to think people think it's actually Paul all along.

They are well made, and well researched, but mustn't let the scary reverb fool you. This is someone mucking around, and hitching a ride on Paul's very huge fame. If he was instead claiming for example George Formby had faked his own death and used a stand-in for the last few decades of his career, no one would pay any attention.

  17. I'm going to hazard an intelligent guess that the package on which John wrote his first wake-up call request contained his complimentary copy of The Mersey Sound, as its from the same publisher.
